This small group is run by a psychotherapist who is also an artist. it is a supportive group where you can explore self expression and personal development issues through art and creative media. Take what you experience back to therapy or explore it in the group.
Art can be a used to express what we are feeling, or to explore blocks, projections and dreams. We can enter a different world and develop what we find through awareness and expression. Or perhaps you find it tough, perhaps it will bring up concerns about perfection, doing it right.. obeying rules that are not our own. All of these are good to explore in the goal of personal development.
The dementia art group is designed for people who have memory loss. Painting can be a very therapeutic exercise and using the creative centres of the brain can link to memories that were once thought lost. This small, supportive social group meet once a week to paint and draw. The emphasis is not on developing skill, it is on social inclusion and self expression all under the watchful eye of our resident artist/psychotherapist who is also a support with confidence registered PA.
We meet at the artists home once a week, and during dry, warm weather we will travel out to locations to paint in the outdoors.
All materials, brushes and easels are supplied, artistic tuition is not intended to be part of the process but you will learn much from being with the resident artist.
Travel to the venue is available within the Eastbourne area on request, there is a flat charge of £2 covering travel to and from the regular venue or this weeks painting location. On days we venture out please allow extra time for travel time to and from.
