This small group is run by a male support with confidence accredited PA. Members must be in early stage dementia, parkinson's or other brain disorder. Because of the nature of this group we can not take people who are in late stage, or who require 1-1 supervision. We will always meet with prospective members to discuss if this is the right group for you.
We have come across many men in the local community who want get out and have fun during the week with other men, but are not yet ready for daycentre like services, they want something social, not something as confined as a day service. It might be to give the carer's a break or just for their own enjoyment.
We play a strategy game based in the napoleonic period, its quite a spectacle, with hundreds of painted miniature soldiers to command, each of our armchair generals takes command of a division and pits their witts against the other members. Take a look at the photos to get an idea of what it looks like.
We provide transport in the Eastbourne area for an extra fee of £2. We meet together as a small group of 3-4 men. Price includes lunch and refreshments. We play/mess about for about 2 hours, the other time is spent picking people up and running them home afterwards.
Please call 07724 18 66 72 or email for a confidential discussion or to book a place in the group..
"this group has been a lifeline for me, I get to meet with other men with similar problems and we all play with toy soldiers! its a right laugh.." Mr JT
